Give the decapitation stuff a rest

It makes a nice story, but the Lib Dems never really expected to make major inroads into the Tory Shadow Cabinet (Letwin excepted - I think he is bound to go, and a shame too). Instead, they wanted to turn the Tory campaign into a one-man show by forcing them to stay in their constituencies - working on the basis Howard is not a popular guy and having him as the frontman would cause the Tories big problems. It may not have worked, but I suspect for Labour based reasons. Labour wanted a personality campaign too, because they had polling data that suggested Howard was a liability (a hunch, but a strong one).
